Heading Home

Saturday morning in Stockholm:  Wow! We got very busy and there was no time for blogging. Well, we finished our cruise in Stockholm and spent two additional days there before departing for home. After a 2:15 AM Saturday wake-up, 45 minute drive to the airport, brief wait for check-in to open, a quick stop at the lounge, we’re on the plane heading to Amsterdam before connecting to San Francisco. Hopefully I’ll be able to publish this post before departing there. We had a great time. We’re a little tired. And, we look forward to moving back into our home with the renovation complete.  Monday morning in California:  I intended to add a few photos of our last few days and post the blog page above, but wasn't able to do so.  We started the long trip home from Stockholm, with a quick connection in Amsterdam.  Flying KLM Business Class for the first time.  We decided it was well worth it, being able to sleep lying down for a good part of our 11 hour flight from Am...

Bohnholm, Denmark & Gdansk, Poland

Yesterday we explored Bornholm, an island of Denmark in the Baltic Sea. We visited Hammershus Castle, ancient ruins on the island. Then we went to Melsted Farm, a self sustaining farm which continued until 1982, restored as a Danish Museum to its condition in the 1860’s. Finally, we stopped at Ostlars Church, one of only a very few round churches. Today, I took a morning walk in the rain on a mostly covered second deck as a tug helped us into dock at GdaƄsk, Poland. We were bused into town for a walking tour of the town which has been restored after heavy destruction during the second world war. And it poured rain, our first real rain day. Copenhagen, Denmark

Today was spent in Copenhagen. We all loved the city and wished we had more time here.  We took a bus tour in the morning seeing some of the majors sites as well as a small “town” on the outskirts of town. We returned to the ship for lunch.   Since the ship was moored close to downtown, we were able to take a walking tour downtown to further explore some of the local sites. Here a few of the pics from the many sites we enjoyed. The Little Mermaid Statue  Look at all those yellow houses! We spent a long time walking around Dragor,  a community outside town. We could have skipped this.  One of four palaces all together.  A guard of the palace A recycle plant with a ski slope on the roof.
