We embarked the Viking Neptune, unpacked, and explored the ship. Then we took a short walk before dinner. The predicted rains stayed away. It's still very light outside at 11 PM.
Hello Blogger fans. I was thinking, it might be fun to try some blogging again. As most of you know, we have been out of our home since January for renovations, adding an elevator so we can "age in place." It just worked out that the final 3 weeks of our renovation coincided with a planned Viking Ocean Cruise of the Baltic Sea. We checked out of the hotel and took an Uber to San Francisco, departing tomorrow for Bergen, Norway. We're spending the night at the Waterfront Marriott with a view of SFO. We took a walk beside the bay enjoying a view of the airport. Does anyone know what airline has green and white striped planes? (Check out the photos) It's an easy drive to SFO If someone else is driving - thank you Uber! San Francisco Airport Look at this green and white striped plane! Can you name the airline? Marriott Waterfront at SFO Good night to all. Tomorrow we fly, and also the next day. We hope to share some of our adventures wi...
Today was spent in Copenhagen. We all loved the city and wished we had more time here. We took a bus tour in the morning seeing some of the majors sites as well as a small “town” on the outskirts of town. We returned to the ship for lunch. Since the ship was moored close to downtown, we were able to take a walking tour downtown to further explore some of the local sites. Here a few of the pics from the many sites we enjoyed. The Little Mermaid Statue Look at all those yellow houses! We spent a long time walking around Dragor, a community outside town. We could have skipped this. One of four palaces all together. Early Sunday morning, we docked at Stavanger, located in southern Norway. It's "old town" has many cobble streets and lots of wooden houses, many which are white, dating back to the 1700's. The local area and the whole country have flourished with the discovery of off-shore oil. Even with vast quantities of oil available, Norway prides itself in being environmentally conscious with over 80 % of the automobiles in Norway being electric. We walked through the old town and visited the Oil Museum where modern drilling techniques were demonstrated. A few drops of rain greeted us on our walk with more rain predicted over the next few days. We were back on board by 12:30 with a 1 PM departure for Oslo.
